The Al-Star might not win any awards for beauty but it is by no means a beast either. I find the grip to be very comfortable, although others disagree. The the weight and balance of the pen is very comfortable for prolonged periods of writing with the cap on or of. The fine nib produces a wet consistent line and never skips a beat. I can even leave the pen uncapped for nearly an hour and it will write with the first line. This was my 2nd fountain pen and now lives along side my Pelikan M400 and Parker "51" as my favorite writers.

s the Lamy motto, and is true. Same design than the ABS plastic made Safari line, the All.Star is built out of aluminum, in several attractive colors. Light, the triangular grip helps set the pen on the paper just right. Size and heft, function oriented design with a XXI st Century look that will be a classic. Convenient ink window. The aluminum is a soft metal, so is prone to scuffing and both converter and cartridges are proprietary, making the additional purchase an added cost. Safaris, All Star, Studio, Vista and Joy share amazing, German engineered nibs that are easily exchangeable by the user, with a wide range on both conventional and italic range. This ingenious system allows to exchange the stainless steel nib within seconds and the new one fits perfectly and gives better results than many others in the market without any feed/nib/flow issues. Is a great way to learn what kind suits your handwriting better, and at unbeatable prices. I love this color....

I very much enjoy this pen. It is light weight, so easy to use for long periods, with a large enough barrel for those with larger hands. I like the extra fine nib, but with 4 nib widths there is something for everyone.
