These are the best compromise between portability and write-ability I've found. The ruling is tight so you have to write a small hand, and avoid super juicy nibs. I had a Sailor music nib I used for a while, but it tended to bleed through the page and the letters were cramped in those spaces. With a fine, medium and a medium wet or dryer writer, though, the journal is great. No bleed through. There's space to list tasks, or in my case, themes from the day's journal entry. The refillable aspect not only cuts costs, but allows you to date your writing on the spine of the refill for easy look-up later. And finally, quality is excellent, both paper and binding. If you're looking for a medium sized journal, try one. You'll like it!
